A little about my work:
Research, self-introspection, and observations of the world are the components that nurture my art practice. I’m informed by the mundane, the human experience, and internalized taboo thoughts. By mimicking scraps of drawings and writing seemingly pulled out from a daily journal, I juxtapose the seriousness of oil painting with the humour of highlighting trivial experiences and thoughts. This labor-intensive process allows me to put care into and actualize my internal thoughts, making me feel listened to by my audience. The simplicity of works such as “I love my bed” and “I wish I was a cat” allows viewers to easily digest my work while attaching their own personal meaning. By gaining their immediate respect and admiration through craft, my concepts become more accessible toward a broader audience, challenging elitism in the art world.
